Pointe Shoe Fitting Appointments

Your foot is as unique as your fingerprint! Your foot is yours and not the same as anyone else’s. This is why we do not sell pointe shoes without fitting. We are passionate about all things dance and this includes dance safety. We are 100% committed to finding the perfect pointe shoe for YOU so we only sell pointe shoes that we feel fully confident in.

We know you’re excited, so are we, but first, we have a few important things to tell you about our fitting policy:

How Do I Make An Appointment?

You’ve worked, you’ve waited: it’s finally time! Once your teacher assesses your strength and readiness and has given you the go-ahead to come and be fitted for pointe shoes, it’s time to contact us. You can call us in either of our two stores or send us an email at team@danceworld.ie to book your fitting. We will need the following information from you:

  1. Your name.
  2. Your email address and contact number.
  3. Your ballet teacher’s name or your Ballet school.
  4.  How many pairs of pointe shoes you have had before or if this is your first pair.
How Long Does A Fitting Take?

Each fitting is allocated a thirty-minute time slot. If you’ve got easy-breezy feet you might be out in under 30 minutes, but if you’ve got tricky feet we may need to spend a little longer to get you the perfect pointe shoe.

Time Slot

Please arrive five minutes prior to your fitting for check-in.

We understand that things can happen to make you late. We forgive you. But, if the worst happens and you are late for an appointment, please let us know you are on your way and we will do as much as we possibly can in your allocated time.

If you are more than 10 minutes late your appointment may be re-scheduled.

Cancellations

You’re busy. We’re busy. We understand that things come up unexpectedly. If you can’t make it for your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can squeeze someone else in. 24 hours notice would be great!

How To Prepare For A Fitting
  1. Please wear ballet tights or socks. When we fit pointe shoes we want to fit them in whatever you will actually wear them with to get the perfect fit.
  2. Please bring any old pointes you have, your toe pads and any other accessories you use. It is important that we fit you in the most accurate way possible.
  3. For first time fittings please talk to your teacher in advance and find out which toepads you need and whether they have any other requirements or preferences.
  4. Try to cut your toenails before your appointment: you’d be surprised how painful it is to dance on too-long toe-nails. Ouch!

Group Fittings

We would love to have your class in for a group fitting! We need a little time to prepare though, so we will need you to give us at least seven days notice for groups of 3+ students. Give our sales team a call or send them an email to get your fitting organised.

Perfect Fit

We ask you to please, please, PLEASE ensure that all pointe shoes are checked by your teacher before you sew on ribbons and elastics. We understand how important it is to be happy and confident in your pointe shoes and we are more than happy to re-fit and exchange pointe shoes once they are un-worn and the ribbons have not been sewn on.
